Our Story
Three Suns Pool was founded by Marcus Chen in 2019, carrying forward the legacy of the original Three Suns Pool & Spa that served Michigan communities for over 30 years.
Marcus grew up in Ann Arbor, spending his teenage summers working at his uncle’s pool service company. He learned the trade from the ground up, skimming leaves, balancing chemicals, and troubleshooting every imaginable pool problem. After studying business at University of Michigan and spending years in corporate retail, Marcus saw an opportunity when the original Three Suns location closed. He acquired the name and brought that small-town pool shop expertise online, determined to serve customers nationwide with the same honest guidance and quality products.
Today, Marcus runs Three Suns Pool from Grand Rapids with the same philosophy he learned all those years ago: fix the problem, don’t upsell. Sometimes you need a $200 pump. Sometimes you need a $15 bottle of clarifier and better skimming habits. We’ll always tell you which one.
Why We’re Different
We Test What We Sell
Marcus has his own 20×40 in-ground pool that serves as our testing ground. If a product can’t handle a Michigan winter in his backyard or melts in the hot florida heat, we won’t recommend it to you. Every product in our catalog is curated based on performance, not just availability.
We Educate First
Pool ownership shouldn’t be stressful. We don’t just sell products. We teach you why you need them, when to use them, and how they work. An educated pool owner is a confident pool owner.
We’re Honest About What Works
We’ll tell you when you don’t need something. We’ll recommend the simple solution over the expensive one if that’s what actually solves your problem. Our job is to help you maintain a crystal-clear pool, not to maximize our cart value.
